237 guests' feedbackIt was probably one of the best overnight stays I have ever used. The cottages are very modern and luxurious and are also set against a beautiful backdrop of mountains. I also took advantage of their dinner, which you can order in advance, and it was also top notch. All in all, it was really nice to be able to stay here and I would recommend it anytime.
The location is stunning, and so is the accommodation. Everything is very clean and well-maintained. The views are beautiful. As amazing as the photos are, it is even more beautiful in person.

It was very nice.
The chalet was very clean and looks nice enough, and the views are very good. In the evening, the bright outside lights are useful, but the surrounding lights from units hinder proper star gazing as the units are not very far away from each other. The chalet kitchen is generally well stocked, but as a unit for 6 people, it only had 3 steak knives. It could also do with a portable braai grid. The chalet cleaning service was very good. An oversight on the first day was the lack of dishwashing soap, but this was rectified. The farm is charming with the sheep and lambs, but on the first day we reported 3 dead lambs in the camp, 1 left outside the camp with its mother, and we let him inside, and another lamb stuck in a separate camp to its mother and the other lambs. We reported another lamb in a different camp in distress and kicked by the donkey in the camp. When we returned an hour later, this lamb was also dead. After an hour, a worker turned up and wanted to leave the last dead lamb inside the camp, also telling us it's been dead a long time so why worry. By the next evening, all but 1 dead lamb was removed from the 2 camps we viewed, but 1 reported dead lamb was still lying in the same spot. As a place where families spend time, the handling of vulnerable livestock was irresponsible and potentially unsanitary. We specifically booked chalet Laurine for the most unhindered views, but upon arrival, we were booked in Simone, which had less of a view but was still nice. There were no additional charges. There was also a very steep drive up to the chalet, which might need to be mentioned in the description upon booking.
Lovely, peaceful and quiet place where you can relax. Chalet is well furnished. We could order side dishes for our braai. It was also very nice and comfortable.
We had a great time staying here for one night, wish we could have actually stayed longer. Very clean and tidy unit, although cottages are close together, this room was the most private.

Beautiful, quiet, comfortable - everything I needed for a quiet rejuvenation before the start of the year. The indoor swimming pool was a delightful surprise. Loved having the honeymoon suite as it was located with sufficient distance from the other suites and at the end of the road to have lots of privacy. Loved the outdoor shower and the views. Highly recommended!

My wife and I stayed in one of the chalets "Christel" for 7 nights. The rooms are fantastically built with high quality finishes and the wood burning stove makes for a modern and cozy stay. We were relieved to find that the farm sells bags of wood and blitz.
The peaceful farm atmosphere with the sheep bleating in the background, together with the beautiful mountains and nice fireplace, made our time at Oranje Guest Farm romantic and special for our 16th wedding anniversary. I was particularly impressed with the service they provide in terms of food that one can order.
Remember to do your shopping at home and bring it with you instead unless you want to eat out.

Was the nicest place we've ever been. Although there was no TV it was not a problem but the WiFi only worked for an hour. It was difficult for the children without the WiFi. Other than that it was excellent. I will and will definitely spend the night there again.

The cottage is very nicely laid out and clean, given 3 stars for cleanliness because the bathroom was not cleaned after the previous guests' visit but was quickly rectified. The WiFI was unstable after the first 2 hours. Feel free to order their food, it's delicious! We will definitely come back.

We as a family needed a break and thoroughly enjoyed the scenery! It's easily accessible and nice and close to other villages.
We stayed in the family cottages on the farm. It was absolutely the most beautiful stay we have ever been to in Clarens. It's not far from town at all - just far enough to feel like you're staying in the mountains. They welcomed us with open arms and looked after our every request. The side dishes with our barbecue make everything just that much easier. Thank you to Oranje Guest Farm - you will see us many more times.

We had a very nice time with the most beautiful view of the mountains and natural beauty that is very well taken care of at Oranje Gasteplaas. The fact that you can order breakfast and dinner there and have it delivered to your door is very convenient and so delicious! We will definitely stay there again. What a wonderful place. I grew up on a farm, so the farm environment at Oranje Gaste Plaas was a wonderful privilege to relive. Everything was fantastic for us. The cattle and sheep do cause that there may be flies and animal sounds from early to late and the sounds even echo against the red rocks, but surprisingly no mosquitoes. The environment is beautiful in the summer and we would like to experience it in the winter as well. One star taken away for customer service as our dinner order - on our wedding anniversary - flopped. It was fixed.

A beautiful view and close to Clarens. It is a pity the walking routes weren't clearly demarcated or given to you on a map because there appear to be a number of them on the property. You need to phone the cellphone number provided on arrival at the gate to obtain the pin to enter the property. There is an indoor pool and the walls amplify the noise which carries up to the units, so avoid school holidays if you want a peaceful stay. The rooms don't have fans and you need to take your own can opener. The property runs on solar and gas so you are unaffected by loadshedding which is a big win.

The units are particularly smartly laid out for total comfort and convenience. The kitchen with the sliding windows is very beautiful any season of the year. The bathrooms are spacious and you can see they were also built with weddings in mind. Best of all is the efficiency of the fireplace which can make the unit so warm inside you almost want to open a window. We will definitely visit again.

Halfway between Clarens and Fouriesburg, both villages that must be visited. Peaceful farm life. Can watch the sheep as they are driven to the field and later back to the pens. Ideal if you don't want to cook yourself, you get tired of self-catering places. Gives you the choice of ordering a meal or preparing a meal yourself. Units far enough apart not to disturb others. No noise is allowed.

It is a very nice room and it is so well equipped you will be able to stay longer. We had a great time sitting on the wooden deck and barbecuing in the evening. We will definitely visit again and would love to book a chalet and enjoy the hot pool. We packed the children's bikes and there is plenty of space for them to ride.

Comfortable, clean and tidy accommodation. Only about 20 km from Clarens and about 40 km from Golden Gate. The idea of a kitchen in a cupboard is all well and good, but there is very little space at the sink to wash dishes with the door not being able to swing all the way open.

It is the most beautiful beautiful! The units are definitely built with location in mind. Despite an awful lot of rain, we could sit in front of the fireplace and open the curtain and just enjoy the beautiful mountains. The units are excellently maintained. The farm workers were friendly and happy to share an anecdote if you asked something about the farm or the activities. The food was like home - delicious country food and the prices were at least half of the nearest restaurant's. I will come again for sure.

Access control to the farm does not exist and it seems as if anyone can drive there day or night, which makes one feel unsafe. Otherwise it is a picture perfect destination, the units are very well appointed, and we will definitely go there again.

Everything you need in a very neat place. Nice white bed linen and lovely smelling soap. We had a great stay!
We enjoyed the tranquility, but never felt at home. The owners made no effort to come and introduce themselves to us and to find out if everything was going smoothly and if we were enjoying our stay. It was extremely disappointing. We paid a lot to stay there and felt we were entitled to better treatment. We will never consider vacationing there again and do not recommend it to anyone.

Wonderful location. Very nice stay. There was a bit of a communication gap about the meals for the evening. Didn't know we had to book in advance. Accepted according to the email we received back that there are meals available. Then had to drive back to Fouriesburg to get something for dinner. Nevertheless, it was still nice to sit on the porch and relax.

Although you are used to your own bed and everyone has different opinions, we found that the beds weren't very comfortable, as we would wake up with sore backs in the morning. Besides the beds, it was truly an amazing stay, nice to be in a very clean, neat and tidy place to stay and the views are very very pretty.

The farm's beautiful surroundings and the small livestock found on the farm create a special tranquility. A lot of effort is made to ensure that the accommodation is extremely comfortable. The staff are helpful and very friendly. I would love to spend time there again.
A guest farm that is a business. It's a wedding venue and that's all. Rated wrong. Single ply toilet paper does not belong in a four-star guesthouse. Cold reception, no personal contact from the owner or manager. Staff unfriendly, will not go there again or recommend it.
We only stayed one night and everything was nice, neat and clean. The woman at reception received us kindly. We traveled with our parents who are pensioners. We were disappointed to see that there was only a bath in our room and theirs. Since they are already old, they can struggle with the bath. We asked them if they might have a room with a shower for our parents and they accommodated us and moved them to a room with a nice spacious shower.
Thank you. Our stay was pleasant and met all our requirements. Air conditioning would help with the heat wave, but these were extraordinary circumstances, not the normal. The farm atmosphere was calming and helped us relax and unwind. Our children were able to take wonderful pictures of the stars in the evening.

I can only make a few small suggestions, because I did not stay in a self-catering unit, I received breakfast in the room twice. The salt pot was empty which I received with the breakfast, there are also small finishing touches with the breakfast such as a napkin and a toothpick and maybe a fruit juice. The breakfast was also excellent! There was also no soap or shampoo in the bathroom, luckily I took care of that myself.
We only slept over for one night and had the whole place to ourselves. Paula was very friendly and showed us the wedding hall and the church and it is beautiful. The room was comfortable and clean and had all the amenities. Very nice experience.

Refrigerators were off. No milk, ice or water. No soap or shampoo. The lady who helped us was very sorry, she didn't know anything about our reservation. I was up at 5 o'clock to go for a walk and we drove at 08:00, without seeing any staff. We did not feel very welcome and felt as if we were an inconvenience. We could have actually stayed for free and driven without paying. No one would even notice.
Oranje Gasteplaas is a beautiful piece of jewel - everyone can do with a little break where one can experience true peace. The most beautiful surroundings, hospitality as only the countryside can offer! Everything was beautifully prepared for our arrival - the stylish room was very clean and fresh. Although the breakfast that was included was adequate, it lacked the picture of "breakfast basket" as advertised included in the honeymoon suite. But that said - the food was still served hot and fresh, and plenty - eggs, bacon, tomato, sausages and fresh bread. We would love to stay at Oranje Gasteplaas again - it was a lovely break!

We were received by one of the ladies who work there. Owners never emerged. When asked if dinner was possible, the reply was that it was then 16:00 and too late to arrange. When asked if there would be breakfast, the answer was - Yes. Well we then had to go 20 km to Clarens for dinner. The next morning there was no sign of breakfast or any worker - just left the key in the door and drove off. Fortunately, Clarens was on his way to breakfast. We had to call to get confirmation that there would be no breakfast. This is a self-catering place but one would have expected just that little something more. The sink in the bathroom was also badly "etched" and looked bad. At least the rooms were clean and tidy. No, what can one do better elsewhere.

Oranje is a very nice farm with comfortable rooms comfortably and practically laid out, the surroundings around the rooms are neat. The only problem is that there is not enough hanging space for wet towels to dry overnight. The double pipe hanger in the bathroom is too close together and the towels do not dry. This is a common problem with many (SA) guest rooms. Can the rooms be equipped with a drying cabinet/fan or tumble dryer.

We were warmly received and everything was clean and neat by the time we returned from a long day in Clarens or Golden Gate.
The environment is very beautiful. The premises are extremely neat and in excellent condition. The only two aspects that need to be addressed are the hot tap of the bath which is on the right and not on the left as usual. When I was in the bath I didn't have my glasses on and couldn't see them. The dishwashing area can have two sinks instead of one.

Brilliant and value for money.
Oranje is situated in a beautiful spot between Clarens and Fouriesburg. The farm animals and surrounding mountains add to a lovely ambience at this guesthouse. The complimentary freshly baked farm bread was a real treat, and so were the rusks! The bed was very comfortable and the linen perfectly clean and pressed. On the downside, the floor in our room had a layer of dust, so had to wear shoes to keep our feet clean. The white facecloths provided were slightly stained from previous use and the towels could have been 'bath sheet' size instead of regular size to match the 'luxury' feeling that the king size bed creates. The sealer around the bath tub could also be redone more neatly.

Oranje Gasteplaas is 15 km outside Clarens, a quick drive on a beautiful road. Room was clean and tidy with basic cooking facilities to make breakfast and light meals. Ideal if you prefer tranquility outside Clarens' hustle and bustle, perhaps a bit out of the way if you want to be in town every day.

Availability and friendliness of staff could have been better. Barbecue facilities are advertised but they are not for the use of visitors. Accommodation is offered in a variety of chalets and rooms which can accommodate between 2 and 6 guests, including children. Each unit has an en-suite bathroom and Wi-Fi access. Additionally, the main house rooms have a TV with DStv. Some of the rooms and chalets have a 2-plate stove, a microwave, fridge-freezer, and tea- and coffee-making facilities, whereash the bigger chalets, the honeymoon suite and the luxury unit have fully equipped kitchens. The bridal suite has a bar fridge and tea- and coffee-making facilities.
Guests have access to communal braai facilities and a swimming pool.
In addition, the farm has a wedding and conference facility that can accommodate up to 200 guests.
